Keep in mind that the Privilege Card is only good for 30 days and you say you will be there for 7 weeks. You may want to get the resident's card if you will be returning sometime within the next year after your 7 week trip. It may be more cost effective. I buy it for my guests as I think it's a great $ saver for them.

I would like to also suggest that if they are out of the food you are looking for (which I doubt) then there is a store which is much easier to get to and that is in Porto Cupecoy called the Gourmet March. It's just a 5 minute drive from Maho and you wouldn't have to fight any traffic, especially with the road work they are doing near there.

My brother went out with Lees and enjoyed it BUT you can not keep the fish. You could try another charter company as well called Seaside Charters. Their website is: www.stmaartencharterdeals.com They may have something as well.

It's a beautiful condo complex and probably the tallest building on the island. You will love the views. Every condo is individually furnished so I can't say what the condo would look like inside but I can't see how it could be bad at all! The area is up and coming and so you will be surprised on what is now available for you regarding stores and restaurants. Enjoy!

My impression is that if the timeshare goes back to normal status after these issues are resolved with the courts and with the employees, then you will be billed 2012 maintenance charges and you will be able to use your timeshare next year. I would think of this as being similar to the Royal Islander who credited maintenance charges to those that could not use their timeshares after the hurrican

Dear Philippe. I am so sorry to hear of this news. When I read your facebook tribute, I was not sure who had passed away since I had never met the gentleman and did not want to post my condolences to the wrong person. Of course, you know my beliefs and so I am sure that he will be by your side watching over the restaurant and I am sure that his confidence in you has given him peace of mind as h

From the first post and none thereafter, I immediately pictured Orient Beach as the area that the poster should be looking to stay. I can't imagine any other beach that he would be happy. I am a total advocate for the Dutch side because of the nightlife but from what I gather the poster is looking for, Orient Beach seems to be the ideal place with it's multitude of small shack-type re

It's a nice relaxing place Elaine and the prices are really not unreasonable either. I'm not going to say that the food a fabulous. Just worth the money in a perfect viewing location. They are not open at night except when they have a "special" night. I would recommend parking under La Terrasse and crossing the street to where Driftwood is and walking up the driveway betwee

X3 Tortuga! You get to watch the planes come down but in a nicer setting and IMHO, better food offered at reasonable pricing. I have taken some very nice pics standing along the elevated path that leads from the street to the restaurant. AND it's covered in case it rains. They have a bar and do have a happy hour at 3:00 PM. Visitors are welcomed there even though it's on Royal Isla

OK Joni...sorry. By the way you worded it, it sounded like your cruise was beginning in SXM which is why I thought you may be needing something closer to Marigot. The recommendations above are perfect. The stores are walkable but not right at the docks which is an expansive area. There are tenders that can take you to the pier in Philipsburg so very little walking is required to get to the

My impression is that this cruise is not departing from Philipsburg but maybe Marigot? Please confirm where you will be boarding the ship so that we can direct you to the best selection. Also, will you have access to a car prior to your cruise. That would also make a difference. The reason I ask is that we had guests who stayed at our place take a cruise right before staying at our place. I h

Now, to me it looks like 2 small beaches just south of Dawn Beach although I would not know if they had names.

It appears that the first one is really a continuation of the second one. In other words, if the first one were Happy Bay, then the second one would be Friars....I am not saying that is the case since though. And so if the second one were Happy Bay, then the first would be the beach beyond that...possibly what some people have called Lover's Beach I think?

I remember finding this site before any others and yes, it was just before the hurricane. I went under a different ID name at that time. I remember being attached to this site finding out anything I could about what was happening. We landed up going to the island only 2 weeks after the hurricane struck and we had the greatest time discovering new places since many vacationers had decided to go e

And I also agree. The rental car company should not charge you for the tire change or repair but if they do, as long as you have insurance on your rental, you could always file a claim when you get home as long as your rental company gives you the paperwork regarding the repair. For this claim, you could always say that someone slashed your tire. There have been a few discussions on this in the

Thank you RDT for the good explanation as to why only in the last years has the weather really affected the beaches. I know this is not my island but since I do own property now, I guess I have the right to wonder if there have been any "Ocean Specialists" around to offer viable solutions to this unnatural occurence such as to the moving and sinking of abandoned ships or the building o

Thanks Barbara! I can see that in those days, the structures were butt up against the water which amazes me, based on the path of hurricanes. I wonder why only in the last years of the 20th century that hurricanes began to affect the island, otherwise I would assume that most of these structures would have been long gone.

The top photos 1 -4 are truly very familiar places, one in particular has been in the news lately. 1, 3, and 4 are located in the same area of the island and the last one doesn't really have to do with a doctor but I will reveal that the last photo is one of the author of the book where I am getting these photos. He is the one next to the jeep and his co-worker standing to his left. He wa

Thanks Barbara and Philippe. The design is, as always, so intriguing... like taking a walk down Bourbon Street in NOLA. Like taking a walk into history. Do the people who own it maintain it? I would hate to think that the structure would be abandoned.

Based on all the trip reports I have read in the last 6 months, it doesn't sound that the Sapphire has changed much for many years. The place is still clean and offers basically the same room decor and views but the staff attitude has not changed much at all. It seems to be hit or miss with getting things corrected or questions answered. To me, if it weren't for the staff, the place
