Just returned to St Mar. after a 3 year break. Had a great time. What I found differant: Cupecoy area is really built up, Cliff Side Bar is closed, Seem's the Cliff, the Rainbow and Cupecoy Apts have made that beach all but inaccessible to anyone but owners. Traffic did not seem to be bad at all. Islanders say the economy is very slow and they are hurting(so they say) Bar's &

#1 Has anyone tried using a magic jack on their laptop from St Maarten to the US? I need to stay in touch for business. If they work I suppose I'll have to schlepp my laptop which I really don't want to do "one more thing to keep an eye on". #2 Can you pic up a wireless signal there (no card)? #3 I've heard its risky recharging your computer in St M. due to their

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I'm so disgusted with those boneheads I could flip. I'll be better off having an advance group tell them I'm coming.

Now here is a new wrinkle in my never ending amazement with the Saff. We were preparing to pay our maintenence fee's this past Sat. and low and behold the phone rings and it was "THE" Sapphire calling from the island wanting our fee's! NO Problem as it saved us a phone call into oblivion. My Wife asks: Why haven't you answered any of my husbands e-mails to you??? He

We Bought in 94 at the Saff. I remember walking down the natural Cupecoy Beach in the evening after a sunset at the cliff (95), Quiet, peaceful, natural, no huge buildings over your head. Peaceful days laying in the sand, naked in the cave bothered by no one. Ironically the SBC was probably the first nail of many in the coffin. Now if you go to the cave some A Hole from the "New" monstr

I paid the Saff's special assessment of $1890 under thier threat of forfieting your timeshare. They owed us rent money for weeks they rented for us, My credit card statement showed a charge of $148 so they paid up in a round about way which I was happy with........."However".......... I have recieved NO confirmation of payment.....Have not been able to speak with anyone at the SBC

Thanks Maxine, I was stumped as verbal contact with them is ......."DIFFICULT" I am still curious about the $148 charge from $1890! Maybe they owned up to thier rental obligations! We shall see. I understand they are making improvements? Dave

I recently paid my special assessment fee of $1800 to the Sapphire. I requested a return e-mail of veritication of payment. Of course no email or fax or phone. Today my credit card statement arrived with a $148 charge from " #CARIBISCH GASTVRYHEID ST. MAARTEN AN" The Saff did owe me 2 weeks rent for rooms they rented. Does anyone know what the above name is or who it belongs to??

SX, Against my better judgement we paid ours because I think they are up to no good (well Duh). I think we will sell out of the trailer park. With all fee's paid then they can't bitch although they still say we owe three years from way back when (They're Nuts). Lets face it St Mar "Ain't what it used to be". I have a hunch they will figure out how to screw the o

I recently paid my special assessment oF $1800(under protest) via credit card to the Saph. I asked for the courtesy of confirmation of payment and what they intended to do about the 2 months rent money the Saph owes me. Nothing has shown up on my C Card to date and have recieved no return mail on any subject. Other stuff: Someone must have been there recently, Are any improvement being made?

Louise, How about this to make you think. Just supposing there are 12 units per floor @ $630 a pop x 10 floors x 3 buildings x 52 weeks = over $11 million dollars This excludes penthouses and villas. This is also on top of the regular maintenence fee's. I wonder if they will hire pest control for cockroach control in that #11 mill? We are going to pay up and sell our 3 weeks.

Has any one been to the Saphhire lately. I recieved a $1900 bill($630/unit) from the Saph for upgrades and renovation. (I wonder where all the past maintenence fee's have gone?) Has anything been done to the dump or is it just more promises. The deadline to pay up is Oct. 15th or they threaten to foreclose on your unit/s. I feel like I'm being strong armed by these creeps. Bring your fins! I was always been interested in a dive off the cabana at Bambo Bernies so I did it last year. About 30 or so ft deep, a wall, smooth sand bottom with an umberella, refidgerator motors, beer bottles and misc junk, oh and yes part of that cool electric palm tree that used to be at BBB's. If you are a golfer I brought up about 30 golf balls. I did see the largest puffer fis
