Just returned from two weeks at the Sapphire Beach Club. Have been members for more than ten years, and this has been the most disappointed we have been with the facilities. One would think the front desk would let you know at check-in that room service has been reduced to 1 day a week. In reference to a cell phone. We activated international service with our Verizon Razor and used it last year. The charges were nominal and the service was a good as it was with the one's I rented on the island. If your carrier is other than Verizon, it's worth a phone call to see if there is available service on the island.

Returned last week from two weeks at the SBC. We were very impressed with the improvements in customer service. Very quick responses to service requests, and finally after two years of trying, I was able to get my new address changed in there system. Of course, I was then promptly presented with a bill for the assessment fee (of which I'm holding off on until litigation is completed).

Has anyone had any luck using a stateside (razr) cell phone in SXM? I did the international activation, and the verizon rep told me it would work, but I've been disappointed before with bad advise. The phone is CMDA, and I will do the preverbial "*228" prior to departure. Thanks for any feedback!

We are going again for two weeks in October. We too, have joined the crusade to prevent the illegal assessment fees and hopefully get some answers as to what was being done with the regular maintenance fee. But, we do look forward to our visits each year, and will try not to let this distract us from a wonderful vacation.

I find it interesting that the car rental company requires you to lock the vehicle, thus resulting in a break-in (and an insurance claim). Does anyone know if there is an actual car theft problem in addition to these break-ins? Would it be wise to just leave the car unlocked, and empty, of course? Looking forward to our return in 7 weeks, in spite of this small problem.
