Thanks for the response Elaine but they were definitely selling from the back of the truck in Marigot. It was late afternoon, around 4.30, I think in Rue de Saint-James. Maybe it was just excess stock after they'd completed their restaurant deliveries & was just an ad hoc thing. I'd be really grateful if maybe the next time someone is at the farm they could inquire?

Twice in the last week I've seen the Rasta Farm van, once in Marigot selling their produce & once in Simpson Bay when noone was in the van so I wasn't sure if they were just doing deliveries to local restaurants. My question is does anyone know if this a regular thing for them &, if so, are they at certain places on certain days? It would be great to be able to buy their produce

This has nothing to do with the racing but is one of my favourite memories of last week & hope you don't mind me sharing it with you. While running Registration at the Yacht Club last week one of the Dutch Bareboat (charterboat) teams handed in a wallet that they had found in the back of the taxi they'd got from the airport on Monday night. Inside, along with the usual credit card,

Whilst I'm with Barbara on not putting German food top of my favourites, we do try to go to their beer & sausage fest. Held on the 1st Friday in each month, they set up a bbq in the courtyard; the food is self service & you often have to share a table as it's usually very well attended by locals, ex pats & medical students. A fun eve & the pretzels are yummy!

It says it was filmed during the summer of 2008. It seems like there has been some maintenance over the years as it's hard to imagine that the varnish work in the bar would have survived.

Hi Warwick - there is a pottery studio at Port De Plaisance. They had an ad in The Herald a couple of weeks ago to promote their studio open days/courses & I have friends whose kids have done classes there. Sorry I can't recall the name but I think it's located by the hotel rooms side. Deborah

The place in Bellevue sounds like it is definitely worth a visit. Can you please tell me if it is located just before Home & Tool if coming from Cole Bay? Although not from this island, I do find that produce from Guadeloupe, especially tomatoes, generally have a better flavour than those from the US or Holland. Is this just because I know they are grown in sunshine nearby?!

I'm not familiar with the taxi fare cost from Lowlands to Phillipsburg but can highly recommend Big Time & his wife Candy who are both taxi drivers. They are reliable, honest & lovely people. Big Time's phone number is 553 5401. Enjoy your trip!

In addition to the suggestions of the Marigot & Simpson Bay fish markets, your chef might like to try the supermarket US Import in Sandy Ground (just on the left after you've crossed the French bridge heading towards Marigot from Basse Terre). They usually have a well stocked fresh fish counter.

On the Dutch side there is also a branch of Le Sucriere in Simpson Bay (just beyond Simpson Bay Yacht Club if you're coming from the bridge) or Atlantico bakery (also in Simpson Bay opposite Gourmet Marche). I'm pretty sure neither of them have featured on Happy Anniversary!

Very enjoyable viewing - thank you. I don't know if you were told the story of the Race Committee cat in pic 8 but you probably noticed she was missing something - her mast! This was the boat that was capsized in the lagoon by the tornado that came through Simpson Bay Yacht Club during hurricane Omar. It's still a work in progress but this was her 1st official duty since being rescued.

That is correct - the bar was open during the regatta. They have apparently filled all the bar/wait staff positions so hopefully it is not long before proper opening.

Denis - thank you again for your kind comments - I shall certainly pass them on to Ton & Martine who ran the Water Taxi Team. None of us do this for the credit, but that is not to say it is very nice to receive some!

Denis - thank you for a very enjoyable read & for recognizing the efforts of those involved with the Regatta. As 1 of the shore based volunteers I have to say that special credit should go to the Water Taxi team this year. What an incredible job they did this year ferrying racers to & from Simpson Bay to the Yacht Club until 1am in the morning in truly nasty weather. Incidentally, it wasn

No, it's a few doors further on from there (if you're coming from the West). It's hard to miss with the ground up green glass on the forecourt! The 3 Palms cocktail lounge & restaurant is now where Pegleg's was. It's been completely revamped & has a lovely terrace on the lagoon.

You're right, I guess Liat figures the demand wouldn't be that great. The British Press don't seem to have been too hard on Strauss, they were too busy being all of a flutter about Freddies' Fitness & thinking up cute headlines like "Sweaty Palms in Paradise"!

Are you not tempted to go for the $1 Liat special down island? I know I would be if I wasn't involved with that other "small" sporting matter coming up...the Heineken Regatta!

Agreed. By chance I was in ANU between flights last Friday had lunch at The Sticky Wicket. The pitch there was looking as pristine & immaculate as ever - a marked contrast to the debacle that was unfolding down the road at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium! Definitely not a good week for cricket.

Whilst I totally agree with not taking shells from beaches, I'm less convinced about sea glass for reasons that I hope are thought-provoking & not too controversial! In another thread the lack of recycling facilities for glass has been mentioned. There are many artists who use sea glass in their work - are they not recycling glass?! At what point does the glass of a discarded Heineken bo

Bruce you are so right. We get around by boat & I am constantly hoisting bags out of the lagoon & sea. Aside from getting caught in the props, turtles with their poor eyesight mistake them for their favourite snack, jellyfish, with fatal consequences. On land it would be nice if Sang's could adjust their policy. I always take a big sturdy WeBe bag (made from recycled coffee bean sack
