Coming to SXM...

Its been a long time coming, but I think im finally ready

IM COMING TO SXM!!!

When? idk
how? idk
But its officially become a internal question, I feel I 'must' answer.

Where do I begin?

I am AN UNITED STATE CITIZEN... 38 s/b/female no kids, no degree(currently looking to back to school), but sizeable chunk of savings. I have 15yrs experience in telcom field, but real passion for art/cooking/sewing/history.

Would it be possible for me to go back to school in SXM??

Should I consider opening my own business on the island?

Be a landlord?

Im open to serious and friendly suggestions. DONT discourage me. Just offer whatever honest advice in me moving forward.

Just a thought here and not meant to encourage or discourage, but if you haven't already done so, I would definitely make sure I personally know and thoroughly understand the rules of residency and also the basic labor laws as they apply to island living before getting too involved with the island on a more permanent basis. Residency requirements in particular might end up throwing a huge monkey-wrench in your plans and better to know this up front before funds are spent.

Respectfully,

pat

I agree with Pat.. obtaining residency is a difficult long process.getting a work permit is another long hard process.
Do your homework before you make a move.
Maybe even come down for a couple of months, make some contacts, do some research and then decide.

Back to school for what? The options are very limited here for education.
