Seeking Saturday Night Accommodation

Hi All,

Haven't been on this board for years. Glad to see it's still here!

I've got a question that's probably been brought up previously, but I didn't see anything when I just did a search.

Am trying to plan an affordable 7-day trip to SXM next month. Found some deals on timeshares, but they run Sunday-Sunday. Airfare is much cheaper Saturday-Saturday (almost half price), but that means my girlfriend and I would arrive a day before our timeshare week starts (and leave a day early).

Any suggestions for where we might be able to find inexpensive one-night (Saturday) accommodations? I'm hoping to find something for $150 or less (tax included).

Thanks much!

Have you tried to get an extra night at your timeshare? Getting one night in February is probably next to impossible.

what area?
Simpson Bay - Might try Liberty Inn. Travelers Inn(real basic).
Oyster Pond area - Blue Beach, Hotel Sol.

Thanks for the suggestions, Norm.

We lucked out afterall and got a Saturday-Saturday timeshare rental, but I'll keep your suggestions for future reference.

Welcome back, Andy. A lot of us are happy that Gert keeps this up and running and the moderators still work to keep it a good and responsible forum.

I was particularly interested in one of your comments - most of us find Saturday to Sat. airfares to be higher than other days of the week - so congrats! Wherever you're coming from it sounds as though you've beaten the odds.

And should you ever run into the problem again, the suggestion to check your timeshare accommodations first is a good one - they often offer a somewhat discounted rate for owners and/or guests for extra days.

Enjoy your trip....

Respectfully,

pat
