It's not hard to notice the conditions some live in when we're IN the local buses with the locals every single day we left our condo. NO, we did not rent a car. NO, we did NOT take taxi's. We emersed ourselves in the culture and saw the less tourist'y side of St Maarten in low season, the part I prefer. We love connecting with locals everywhere we've traveled. So yes, I CAN say I ran into a LOT of St Maarten (Dutch and French) women over those 8 days and got back exactly what I spelled out above. And what I'm reading above is exactly what I thought I might hear. More of the same, except I'm not there anymore for you to scowl at me.. done & sad
