Advice for moving to SXM...and finding an art job

I'm a 26 yr old senior in college, I'm graduating in May 2013, and marrying my fiance (who is from Marigot) in June, and moving to the island around the same time.
I'm graduating with a BFA from a 4 yr university, I've got experience working with an independant comic company, I've been published, and have experiences in various fields of visual arts. Can ANYONE give me advice on where I can find a job on SXM working as an artist? And what should I expect as an American when I get there?

you can not work legally on the island if you are an American unless your wife files for residency for you.
and as far as I know there are no "jobs" as an artist per se although there may be some limited opportunities in visual arts.
the best thing to do is make some inquiries when you are down here. good luck!

Popular goods include local crafts & arts, exotic foods, jewelry, liquor, tobacco, leather goods, as well as most designer goods. Most often the designer goods are offered at significant discounts, often up to 40% lower than US retail prices.
