We will be in SXM 12/3-10/2011. My partners passport will expire 2 months later in Feb 2012. Will there be any problem at either SXM or JFK customs?
Any info would be helpful.

I think that, as long as you can prove a return ticket to the USA within the timeframe in which your passport is valid, you shouldn't have any problem.. but for more security, you should inquire with the airline or the passport agency IMHO

isn't there some requirement that your passport has to be valid for at least 6 months? I'm not sure though

I've heard about this requirement also, but personally speaking, I think the traveler will be fine.

Of course, there's still plenty of time left if they want to obtain a new one and if they were to note on the application they had immenent travel plans the passport agency will do their best to speed up the process.

We last did ours through the local post office and it only took 2-3 works for the full turn-around. If it were me, and given the time involved, I'd probably renew now to be on the safe side but I also don't think I'd anticipate problems if I didn't.
