We just returned from St. Maarten after renting a car from St. Louis Car Rental for 6 days. It was a very positive experience. I would highly recommend them.

The last time we were in St. Maarten, we rented with another company. When it was time to return the car, they tried to hit us with some unexpected last minute charges. So this time we were very careful and shopped around for a company that would not try and pull a fast one on us.

Marius (from St. Louis Car Rental) was very honest. The final cost of our rental this year was exactly what we agreed upon at the time we signed the contract. No hidden fees. Also, we were able to purchase collision damage waiver (CDW) insurance from a third party insurance company called Travel Guard. The Travel Guard policy cost between $7-9 a day, but covers any damage that may occur to the car when it's in your possession (minus a $250 deductible). Note that the CDW deductible is a lot higher when you rent from other car rental companies on the island (usually $500-1,000), and many of them do not allow you to use a third party insurer, so you have to purchase theirs with the higher deductible.

All in all, we had a very positive experience with St. Louis Car Rental. The car was clean and was in good condition. Marius was very friendly and made the whole process run smoothly from start to finish. We plan on using them again on our next trip to the island.
