I remember. I also remember a funny story regarding the house. While I do not know who built it or owned it, I did know the American family with five daughters that rented it for years. When we first drove over the mountain to visit them, we were amazed the home was built so close to the beach, but, it was a beautiful location.

Only problem, you could never see out the windows. They were always dirty looking because of the sea mist. We use to trade house with people from other islands. And this couple traded homes with a Russian couple living on Statia.

When they returned home, the windows were crystal clear. When the Russian lady was asked how she got them clean, she replied ‘With Vodka’. She had put straight vodka in a spray bottle and cleaned the windows.

I still use vodka on our coastal home’s windows.

hmm, on St. Maarten, vodka might be cheaper to use than Windex! LOL
