My last gift to him! I compiled it originaly for his birthday in June, before he left for France to never come back. It has been edited with the last picture since it was originally a Birthday present and not a tribute. What makes me smiling is that he saw it and he enjoyed it... He always wanted to write a book on his life or make a movie out it and he never had time.. so I did a small one for him (still 25 minutes long though...). I never expected it to become a tribute to him and to be shown during his celebration of life since when I made it I expected that he was coming back. But everybody who knew him and were close to him thought it was the right think to do, specially Maggi and I agreed with her...So we just removed the Happy birthday at the end, replace it with the beautiful picture of the rainbow taken few days after he passed away and the 3 or 4 hundred people present at his Memorial appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Philippe

Thanks Philippe for sharing this wonderful tribute. I'm only sorry that I never got a chance to meet the man, although I did see him on occasion pedaling across the lagoon. He certainly had a zest for life and lived out his dreams.

What a wonderful tribute. Although, we never met the Captain, we did have the pleasure of meeting his beautiful wife a few weeks ago. We were at Capt. Oliver's, on the first day of the big rain storm, I believe it was the 4th or 5th of October. We were having lunch and as she was leaving we told her how sorry we were. She is such a gracious, lovely woman and I don't think I have ever seen anyone as in love or more heartbroken. With tears in our eyes we watched her cross the water, her black coat blowing in the wind.
