Any Airfare tips???

I posted this on SXM Friends as well. Man, what a difference a year makes! We've been spending April school vacation in SXM every year since 2003. That first year, we didn't book until February and paid about $900 each for a charter from Logan. Since then, I try earlier each year, last year paying only $507 each booking in Oct(that's THURS thru the following MON); this year, everything is at least $800+ and it's still August!

Why does God have to edit anything even once?

I guess Tuesday and Wednesday flights are a well known way to save, as a friend got a similar fare with a Tues-Wed trip. I hate to have my daughter not only miss the few days of school, but also have to come up with some activity/child care for the vacation days before (or after) the flight. I guess that's the trade-off for the lower fare.

God, You're getting screwed. I booked weekend to weekend in March and paid low 4's with taxes etc.., brings it to just over $500/pp. I think you should have waited.

When you say "weekend to weekend", do you mean April 15 to 22?

thought so; book a trip during school vacation week, April or February, and you'll get screwed like the rest of us! especially Sat-Sat, but even your Fri-Fri would be higher then.

ah - you have to plan ahead for those, I am flying on AA and booked right at the 330 day mark or whatever that was, and could have purchased my Easter tickets around 550, but I was able to fly using FF miles, all four of us, on the flights I wanted JFK-SXM direct on April 7 and returning on 4/20 at 5:15 thru SJU.

My calendar says that the 17th and 31st are Saturdays.

You confused me; I thought you meant you booked it in March (last March, when those dates were Fridays) and that I (or we) should have waited, as in "wait until last minute", like you, booking in March for April, which is the travel time that I was posting about: April school vacation, when fares are high, not March, when they're cheap.
