My husband and I are going to st. maarten this christmas for a vacation. I am wondering if there are any must see or must do things on the island. we are staying at the saphire and will have a kitchen, so i think we will be trying to save money be making breakfast/snacks. I have read up on the websites about the island, but i find people who have been there usually can give better advice and info than a website.

one thing to note with recs. while i love the water, my dh is more of a land man. I hope to get him out on a boat, but that is as far as i can push it.

We love to eat and try new places, but I have a problem with spicy food (though he loves it, so if there are bland options at a place we would probably be up for it)

Thanks for your help in advance.

If you love good food, then St. Martin is the place for you! Grand Case is well known for its restaurants, and I have never had a bad meal at any restaurant there. My favorites are Spiga and Le Pressoir. La Alabama is also excellent, and the most reasonably priced of the three. My absolute favorite restaurant in St. Martin is La Vie en Rose in Marigot. You will find deliciously tasty food that is not too spicy for you. Orient beach is lined with bars and restaurants, so one day you might want to have your main meal for lunch while you are there. Kakao is a wonderful restaurant, as is Waikiki. Have fun!

You are close by to Cupecoy Beach so go there for a day of nude swimming and buy some lunch there from Danny who you will find as he rents chairs also.
Go to Atlantis Casino which is also close by and maybe you can win on the slots like my wife did...$1000 with her second quarter...Yeah! Go to Cheri's in the Maho village, about 10 minutes from you and see their act as it's very funny and a good night. If you like music, go to Sopranno's also in Maho village for some piano and singing and it's alot of fun and of course, go to Sunset Beach Bar for great hamburgers, tuna steak sandwiches and watch the big jets fly in, best time is late afternoon for the jets. They have good music at night and women drink for free if you go topless. You'll find lots of things to do to keep busy and have lots of fun too. Enjoy, Rick
