Substitute for Bananas

We are really looking forward to our annual trip to SXM and our stay at The Towers October 15-21. There was some chat a while back about Bananas closing. Does anyone have a suggestion for another casual place that would be comparable to Bananas?

How about Pineapple Pete's. Great food, nice staff and casual atmosphere.

I would absolutely second the suggestion of Pineapple Pete's. Good food at reasonable prices with very good service. All in all, a winning combination.

Enjoy your time at The Towers - we have months to go before we get to do the same.

GM,

If my memory serves me correctly, it's on the same side of the street and just further down a bit from Peg Leg's Pub. It seems to me we parked in the real estate office's parking lot just before the restaurant and parking could be a bit of a hassle there but then, lately, where isn't it on St. Maarten these days?

I know I'm close but if I'm a little off on the directions, I'm sure Barbara or Neil will jump in and help.

pat, you called? LOL
yes, Pineapple Pete's is further down the road past Peg Leg Pub.
It is almost across the stret from the large movie theatre..
actually there is a miniature golf cours eon the other side of the road and it is across the street from that... it's in a complex with other restaurants. There is an Indian restaurant right next door...
It's a great restaurant..

Thanks, friends!! I am pitiful....I don't know where Peg Leg's is either. Is it in the vicinity of where Bananas used to be?

GM,

Yes, sort of but on the opposite side of the street and down a bit. You'll find it - it really is a nice spot for a good dinner at reasonable prices and it's very popular.

There is a full menu but consider their specials, too. People absolutely rave about the lobster thermidor and while it was pretty good, I've had better at Antoine's on Front St., but the price tag was much higher there, too.

Don't forget to say hi to Maggie, Rochelle and Cecilia at The Towers for me and have a great trip.

I tried to find the previous post about bananas closing but could not find it. When we were there in April we heard the owner had opened another restaurant on a different island but heard that Bananas was staying open and was being run by a manager. Are they closed or closing?

Heard the chef and staff are at Matilda's Tavern now which is where the old Mezzaluna was. Haven't checked it out yet.
To the question of where Pineapple Pete's is, on Welfare Road almost directly across the street from Paradise Casino.
Cheers
