how have the new travel restrictions affected personal carry-on items (laptops, cell phones, etc) and also bringing back liquor?
I saw recently on TTOL ( sorry to mention them Ed) something about SXM following US TSA rules but haven't been able to find a definative confirmation.

Weekend will see further delays
Friday, August 11 2006-- Travellers can expect a weekend of cancellations and delays as the tight security measures remain in place at all UK airports.

On Thursday the UK Police are believed to have disrupted a plan to bomb several planes bound for the US from UK airports.

Extra security checks and a hand luggage ban were enforced and these will continue today.

Long queues are likely at all airports and cancellations are still possible.

BAA is advising passengers to check airlines' schedules and websites before setting out.

The head of BAA, Stephen Nelson is reported to have said that things would be difficult but there was "cause for optimism".

Heathrow has been the worst effected but Stansted and Newcastle have also had major problems.

It is not yet clear how long the current security measures will be in place with some concerned that they may become permanent.

Just returned yesterday. They are basically following the USA rules. No liquids, pastes, creams etc in carryons. We had no problems with electronics in carryons. (camera, palm).

If you have to have any of the banned stuff,it must go in the checked luggage.

And they DO check. Every single carryon was not only screened electronically, but opened and hand checked also. Every piece!

We only used carry ons. We either gave away or tossed all our toiletries.

Was not a big deal.
