Going since '92. We prefer The Gold Mine, also Front Street. Great Swiss watch selection and quality diamonds. However, have heard good things about the other shops mentioned in the replies.

We have been going to St. Maarten since 1993, and have only shopped at Zhaveri jewelers. The owner there is Deepu Budhrani, and he has the nicest guys working with him. My wife Joan has spent countless hours, and I don't know how much $$$ there, but at least I'm taken care of with a few drinks!
Tell Deepu Nick from Raynham, Mass. says hi, and he'll take great care of you. Have fun, and don't miss the awesome watersports at Orient Beach!

There are many fine stores, but we buy all our jewelry at Splash., which has 3 locations. Front St., Pelican and at Royal Palm.

Little Europe is our favorite-hands down. And Hero is not only great but a good friend of Harry Bellefonte!

Two stores previously mentioned, Caribbean Gems and Zhaveri, are owned and operated by the Budhrani family and we have been dealing with them since they first opened their doors on St. Maarten aproximately 23-25 years ago.

We have always found nice merchandise and reasonable prices but beyond that, they are fair and honest and truly do wish to make the customer happy. We have purchased directly from the store and likewise we've dealt with them over the phone and through e-mails and the internet and have always been pleased with the outcome of our purchases. One year they even sent merchandise home to me on approval via a friend that I'd sent there.......no credit cards or receipts needed - just a genuine desire to make the customer (me) happy and the offer that I send them a check if I wanted to keep the item or return it to them when I made my annual trip if it wasn't quite what I had wanted. I don't know if all jewelry stores run their business this way but it's just one of the many things I love about them.

I'm not going to say they're the best or the only stores to do business with, but after 33 years of trips to this wonderful island and more purchases there than my husband wants to think about, I wouldn't even consider shopping for jewelry elsewhere.

Other board has its masters & disciples that follow their views.
Mindless drive,most of the times.

Furthermore that site is known for having a hopeless clique bashing anyone who dares to mention anything might go wrong on sxm ( sometimes they blame the victim for being a victim).

Anon,

That was a fair question. Deepti was found guilty in the Sint Maartin Courts of a business infraction involving misrepresentation. I was going to remind those on the other site of that fact, but decided against it since they are such zealots. It was reported in The Daily Herald and she even wrote a long letter on the other site, but never admitted the wrongdoing.

Watcher, you're right. I know several of the posters and I can't figure out what makes them act like they do over there. And some think of the same of me, so we're even.

These boards are like movie and play critics in a way. Find one that shares your tastes and distastes and stay with it.

Jay Best, he is at the end of front street, where the cruise ship start, by Bobby's marina. He is very honest, very friendly, I've know him for 2 years. Good Quality...Look for the exit 63 sign in the window..
