Will my hair dryer, electric shaver, and other 110 watt standard US appliances I am bringing from the US fit with the electrical outlets and wattage in St. Maartin. We are staying at the Towers at Mullet Bay and leaving the US this afternoon (June 15). Help.

You will have no problems with the power at the Towers - your US appliances will work without any adapters. Don't forget, they do supply you with hairdryers in each bathroom so don't bother to drag them from home. Also, the kitchen is fully equipped with all appliances and there is a vcr and stereo in the livingroom. Have a great trip - I really envy you. The Towers is a really nice place and SXM is AWESOME!!!!

Thanks for the quick response. More questions: is there anyplace at the Towers at Mullet Bay or nearby to access Internet email? Will my cell phone (Verizon service) work in St. Maartin?

Does anyone at Towers at Mullet Bay know where I could go to check my email occasionally? In the US there are Internet Cafes.

There is an internet cafe on the island - I think it's either in the Maho complex or in the Simpson Bay area. Your US cell phone system will not work on the island but you can go to one of the local services and rent a phone for the week. My daughter did this and for two weeks I think she paid something like $65.00 w/incoming calls free and outgoing at $1.00 per minute. Personally, unless you really have to be in touch, I would leave the number at the Towers and arrange for anyone you must speak with to call you at given specificed times. They have a pretty decent phone system in the rooms with a messaging service - so unless it's absolutely necessary - leave the cell phone at home and relax and enjoy!! As to the location of the internet place - your cab driver will probably know exactly where it is and if not, check with the girls at the Front Desk - they are a wealth of local information.

If you take a left when you leave the resort and go up the hill, take a right at the top(if you go by the Sapphire you`ve gone too far) and the place is a little market on the left. Cheap phone calls home too have a ball

I think there is an internet access station at the Starbuck's in Maho.

I am staying at the Mercure Simpson Hotel next week. It states that a 220V adapter is required. Is this correct?

Dont know but it sounds like it is on the French side and that might be true. The dutch side uses 110

Hello ~

I would like to know if we need to buy an adapter for Saint Maarten at the Oyster Bay Resort? Should the 110 from the united states be the same in Saint Maarten?

Thank you
Claudette

no need for adapter at Oyster Bay Resort, it's on the Dutch side, so it's 110v like in the US

Kind Regards,
Philippe
