We have stayed there three of the last four times on the island. We go out to eat every night at one of the upscale restaurants. You can not beat the price or the location. As stated it is nothing special, but the low price gives you more to spend on the great food found on the island.

tom, I have not stayed there for a few years and Orient Village nearby was really not completed so can you suggest any restaurants in walking distance from our place?

rickscott,
There are several new restaurants in the village. We have been to two of them. Le Chappelle is Belgium, fun place, decent food. Many different beers. Cote Plages, French, again decent food, outdoors. Plant Orient B, looked upscale French. Le Fish Bar again good food more fish choices. There is also an oriental restaurant there in the village, I can't recall the name. Tap 5 is great pizza. Hope this helps.
Tom

Le Fish Bar is closed. Replaced by a safari themed restaurant.

And when we speak of an area called "Orient Village" is that all the shops just outside our door at Residence De La Plage?

In years past there was just the strip of shops just by RdlP which included Tap 5 a beauty salon etc but now the village includes the newer square where you will find Cote Plage, Le Chappele etc

It's a shame to hear The Fish Bar closed - that used to be a very decent inexpensive place to eat. Let's hope the new place lives up to the same standards

Yea, I'm going to miss Le Fish Bar breakfasts. That was a good deal.

Thanks for your help. Only 10 days till arrival! I am 6'2" so I will have to be careful with my head upstairs, and since I may be under the influence quite often I will be extra careful with the stairs. I will be thinking about each of you while I am there. Sure! Thanks again, Chip
