Would appreciate any information on LePoissons, we are interested in staying there in February 2009. Exactly where is it and is the area safe. Thank you.

I have been going to St. Maarten for vacation for several years and have usually stayed at the Royal Islander. I am interested in staying at Les Poissons villa at Point Pirouette bordering Simpson Bay Lagoon which I know little about. Can anyone give me any information about this area. Thank you.

I am sorry. I really do not know that villa. I know the Point Pirouette area which is a nice area with nice condos and villas.

Linda,

I honestly know nothing about this specific villa but we have timeshare at The Towers which sits at the edge of Mullet Pond and Mullet Lagoon and overlooks Pt. Pirouette.

As I sit on my balcony most mornings enjoying the sunrises, I look down on the property and it looks lovely from where we sit. The different units are constantly being upgraded, or so it sounds from the on-going distant construction sounds we hear each year. Many of the villas have boats tied up to them or the wherewithal to raise the boats right at your own docks and many of the units have their own pools. Again, this is what can be seen from our timeshare. I believe they have security that walk the grounds at night because we often hear the dogs barking during the daytime and we have seen people walking them around the property at night although this last is purely a guess on my part.

Sorry I can't offer more - would if I could.

Respectfully,

pat

Hi Linda,
Didn't notice your post. That area is lovely. We used to go with friends on their boat to that part of the lagoon and swim. The water is remarkably clear and clean.
Villa looks super nice, don't know that particular one but I have been in the units at Pt Piroutte and the property is nice and clean.
Good luck.

Irina,

Thanks, your input is helpful, we are looking for a nice swimming location as well as a safe place to stay. It does have a private pool amd it is good to know the lagoon is clear and clean. It looks like a great location to stay at.

Not to be negative, but personally I wouldn't recommend swimming anywhere in the Lagoon. With all the boats discharging human waste directly into the Lagoon water, that water certainly would not pass U.S. health code standards.

But then again, many people do swim in the Laggon.
To each their own.
I'd recommend a hepatitus shot first.
